“Once a popular "Space-bank"”

This Futuro house landed in the Village Mall parking lot in Willingboro on 12-14-73. After several years operating as a bank the Futuro was abandoned and then donated to Willingboro township. In the 35 years since the building has been used as office space by township park guards, the recreation department and the local Police Athletic League. "There are many variations of the Futuro house depending on where and for what utility purpose they were made. For example, American markets demanded more spacious rooms with bigger windows which could be opened (Home & Taanila 2004,). In the United States they made an alteration to the steel legs which instead of the steel ring were connected directly to the body of the building. Those Futuros that served as banks could have less windows and those that served as Air Force-owned observation posts could have larger and reinforced windows."

I think I was mainly excited due to the fact that I’ve always seen them on a screen but it wasn’t like totally spectacular or anything. It was still totally worth it to go see it in person though! Definitely more of a stop if your near by kind of deal, I live 45 minutes away and my sisters and I were just kind of like “now what?” once we were done checking it out (which only took about 10 minutes, maybe less) and the park it’s located at is so big but doesn’t have a lot going on activity wise, just a few playgrounds and a tennis court.

I wish they could do something with it though so people could actually go inside. Stinks that it’s just sitting there with no one to maintain it.
