“Outdoors & Recreation in Wilmington, DE”

This 933-acre park is divided by grey stone walls built of local stone in the late 1800's. At that time the property was a dairy farm owned by the du Pont family. This unique area became a state park in 1965, one of the first parks in the nation to be purchased with Land and Water Conservation Funds. The park maintains 14 miles of trails for fitness, wildlife observation, and photography.

The main photo with the flowering trees isn't even In the park. It's at Hagley Museum. The photo with the cobblestone street is Monkey Hill in Wilmington. Brandywine Creek Park is just either wide open fields with a stone wall or normal forest with nothing extroadinary. I find it to be bland and prefer the new National Park (formerly Woodlawn) property next door.

Just 3 short miles north of Wilmington, Delaware, off I-95, and bordering along Brandywine Creek is this amazing park. There are 19th century stone walls that divide the park up. Don't miss the tulip poplar forest and nature center when you visit. Great place to stretch your legs on a road trip.
