“How many doctors does this keep away”
Winchester is the location of the annual Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival, which has existed since 1924. It is usually held during the first weekend in May. The festival includes a carnival, parades, several dances and parties, and a coronation where the Apple Blossom Queen is crowned. Local school systems and many businesses close the Friday of Apple Blossom weekend. Winchester has more than 20 different "artistic" apples that are made of various materials including wood, rubber pipe, plaster, and paint. These apples were created in 2005 by occupants of the city, and were placed at a specific location at the artists' request after being auctioned off. For example, a bright red apple with a large stethoscope attached to it was placed beside a much-used entrance to the Winchester Medical Center.
It's big enough! The town around it looks beautiful to shop or have lunch in.
Like someone mentioned before the apple is on Braddock and Piccadilly Street, rather than the address here.
It's not as big as I would like it to be. The giant artichoke in CA is way bigger. It's on the corner of Braddock and Piccadilly st.
i saw this one and one other along the roads in town i think it would be really fun to come here during the apple festival!
There are a dozen of these around the town now, this one in particular needs some TLC since most of the paint is cracked.
The apple was located further down N. Braddock Street than the Roadtrippers address indicated, right in the center of town. It's not that cool but it was a nice pitstop to break up the drive, especially if you're headed to dinosaur land (which you should)
The apple itself isn't HUMONGOUS but it was big. It looks especially cool/big when you take a picture of your child next to it. The cool thing too is that the town surrounding it is pretty cool. There were different variations of apples and sculptures and little shops.
cute shops near by, only saw two apples good for a goofy photo i guess
Not worth the trip to only see the apple, however the town was quaint and eclectic- lots of good shopping.
Decent stop on the way, nice photo opp, nothing too special, cute town
The apple is, as advertised, a large apple. There is another about a block away just a bit smaller with many historical figures painted on it.
