“built in 1930 by the Santa Fe Railroad”

La Posada embodies the visions of both Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter, the hotel’s renowned architect, and Allan Affeldt, its current owner. But the story really begins with Fred Harvey, who “civilized the west” by introducing linen, silverware, china, crystal, and impeccable service to railroad travel. (He was so legendary that MGM made a movie called The Harvey Girls starring Judy Garland.) Harvey developed and ran all the hotels and restaurants of the Santa Fe Railway, eventually controlling a hospitality empire that spanned the continent.

This place is AWESOME! Ok, still a functioning train station which is awesome. The gift shop and common areas are fantastic. Didn't get a chance to stay the night, but you better believe I will in the future! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

Very nice stay for the night. We were heading through from California to Texas and Winslow as about the half-way point. I wish we had more time to stay. The hotel is definitely a sight to see and has more to look at than one night's stay will allow. Doubling as a stopping point on the Amtrak, this rehab'd depot holds a tremendous amount of history and charm that must be experienced to be appreciated. I highly recommend making this a stop on any travel on I-40.

It’s a cute little town with a lot of great eating places. We tried CaptainTony’s pizza and it was really tasty, and they take request pizzas! We also went to see the famous place that the song “Standing on the corner in Winslow, Arizona” was written about. Super cool and you can take some nice pictures! I would recommend to get out and explore the town.
