“hidden twin waterfalls & swimming hole”
Finding Twin Falls is half the challenge, but well rewarded when you get there. Park at the lower campground where you will find the trail head. Hike west - immediately crossing Falling Water Creek. Stay on this trail - known as the Richland Creek Trail - for 2 miles to the confluence of Devil's Fork Creek. Continue straight for 1/4 mile. Twin falls are 1/4 mile up stream of the Devil's Fork. Twin Falls is two side by side waterfalls using water from two different creeks - Richland Creek and Devil's Fork. For a bonus hike another 400 yards or so up Richland Creek to Richland Falls. Richland Falls is only a 6 foot drop, but about 40 yards wide. When there is a great deal of water the sight and sound is moving.
A friend of ours, who has already been here for a couple times, invited us for a trip to this area. Having the advantage that our friend already know hot to go to this hidden gem, we didn't hesitate to travel here. This was definitely one of the best hikes in the Ozark Mountains. The hike was pretty easy, and the views were just magnificent. For more adventurous trekkers, you would want to hike up the steep hillside and little stream going south of the Mill Stones. You will be able to see a place called Sand Stone Castle. This is one hidden place with a surely amazing view.
Super hard to find and you are in an area with no cell reception. Get a map before traveling in this area! We drove around and finally found a camp ground and asked some people about the falls and they said there was another area that is smaller but still cool to see that is right off the road (falling water drive).
