Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on September 05, 2021We stayed for a night at this KOA after visiting Devil's Tower. The staff were friendly and helpful, the sites were level (all with spectacular views of the tower), the utilities all worked as expected, and they show Close Encounters on the big screen under the stars every night. Highly recommended.
Spent two nights here. Cost $61.00 a night without discount, $55.00 with discount. The location was fabulous. We had a close encounter with the tower of our own! The staff was great. WiFi was good. They are installing a premium WiFi which will be ready next season. They have no cable but did provide satellite cord. Which we didn’t use. The roads were gravel, the sights had well maintained grassy areas with many mature shade trees. There was also a nice outdoor pool. All in all a nice looking KOA. I would stay here again.
I spent May 27 - May 30 (Memorial Day) at Devils Tower KOA. I want to start by thanking the owners and staff for providing a wonderful experience in an amazing location. Every part of our vacation was just made that much better by all their efforts. The camp store is not only well supplied with trinkets and souvenirs it also has a wide variety of items that you may have forgotten or didn't decide you needed until you got there and the prices are really good. I've stayed at several other KOAs and campgrounds in general all over the U.S. and between the views, the accommodation and most definitely the staff this is hands down the best one yet. It is immediately outside of the park entrance and the Devils Tower Monument Visitor's Center is a two-three mile walk away and then another mile to walk around the base of the tower. The camp has a full playground and pool, carriage rides and they show the movie "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" almost every night with the Tower behind the screen. I'm already looking at going back there in September. I can't recommend staying here strongly enough. Thank you all and we'll certainly be back!
So let me start by saying this is the nicest KOA we have stayed at. It's also one of three options in the entire area and the only with full hook ups so it's the only game in town. The grounds are beautiful especially the back towards the river and the tent sites. There's a large open field and the sites are nice pull thrus. They play Close Encounters on a big screen every night which is pretty cool. Our biggest issue is the pricing and the policies aren't exactly inviting. We arrived early and they wanted to charge us for checking in an hour early (I think it was $10). They also charge $5 per child beyond one which I always think is just such an awful policy. Can you imagine charging per adult over 70 or something like that? People would have a fit. We begrudgingly paid. Also, to pick your site is another $20. The mini golf is pretty bush league and they charge for that too. Basically it just feels like every where you turn they are charging you for something. The $69/night turned quickly into over $100 with taxes and "extra kids" and such. For that reason we soured on the place and would probably stay at Belle Fourche next time (it was fully booked during our stay).

We had a great experience at this KOA. You really cannot beat the view, full hookups, very clean, and sufficient amenities.
We paid extra for the premium view and we did not regret it. We reserved the site and it is worth getting reservations as this CG fills up during the tourist season.
Cell phone with Verizon and At&t were was excellent. The free wifi was too painfully slow to use but the VG was completely full, so not a surprise.
This was a de facto ent size site for a KOA. But not like a state park.

Sites 65-70 have the best, unobstructed views of Devils Tower. I have a blog post with a map that shows you exactly which site to reserve:

However, the row just behind that is pretty good too. Arrival and check in was a quick (5 min) affair with plenty of parking for big rigs. The camp store is well stocked and sells beer, wine, and liquor as well. The bathroom and shower facilities are clean and in good repair. The only negative is that it was a little dusty as people drove through, but that's true of a lot of campgrounds. That is outweighed by a really cool feature of this KOA. They show Close Encounters of the Third Kind on the outdoor theater, every night. If you have kids, it's sure to get them interested in the tower!

After being on the bike for several days, I enjoyed my night.
Clean bathrooms and showers, could not ask for anything else, oh the wind was horrible the night I stayed there.

We paid more to have a "Choice Spot" as it was told to us on their web site and also their Guest Services Guide. We were in site 35 and got a perfect view of a beautiful tree. Only sites 36 and 37 have a totally unobstructed view of Devils Tower from the "Choice Spots". They also do not let you have camp fires in the Choice Spots. We were told at check in that there will be community camp fire near our section. Neither night did that happen. Also they usually have hayrides at a KOA. This is the first KOA that we have stayed at that charged $6.00 per person for the hayride, because they take you through land owned by the campgrounds with animals on it. They do show Close Encounters Of the Third Kind every night as parts of the film were done on the site where the camp grounds now stands. Great place for one night stop to see Devil's Tower.

Site 08 is Water/Electric-30A/back-in/tower view. My rate was no discounts.
Direct view was blocked by trees but there was "a view" if you moved about the site.
Better than average KOA. Except for really big rig pull-thru spots sites are above average size.
I wanted 120VAC and a reservation so camping within Devils Tower NM was not an option.
wi-fi speed is questionable . . . and CG only 1/3 full during my stopover.

My first time at a KOA. This location was just right for us to see Devils Tower, and if we hadn't had break problems we would have only stayed two days.(dogs aren't allowed on the hiking trails)... I would have given this a higher rating except for the price! It is very expensive.
If KOA is your thing than this park has it all, the workers are top notch!!!! Really some of the best people we have delt with so far on the road! It was Janell who was so kind, caring, nice that helped us from the moment we checked in!! This park is clean, location is perfect to see the Tower and is large enough to meet the needs of most campers.
