Situated by Fishing Bridge. near beautiful Yellowstone Lake. This large RV Park. is open from late May to late September. It's designed for hard-sided units only with a maximum length of 40'. Sites are back-in only, no pull-through. The area also offers a coin laundry, pay showers. store. water. sewer. and a sanitary dump station. Amenities in the area include a general store. visitor center and restaurants. For those interested, fishing and hiking are within a short drive of this campground. Evening ranger programs.available at the Bridge Bay Campground (3 miles away) are generally offered from mid-June to early September.
All the negative reviews are ridiculous. It's convenient, well kept, nice trail to store/laundry and ranger programs. Sure it's tight. But who cares, most don't hang out at their site, they explore all day. And do you really want the beauty of the park ruined with big site campgrounds?? No. There are a lot of spots, and they have to fit in. Otherwise people would be bitching there aren't enough spots. Just enjoy the park. Quit worrying about of your site has a huge yard to sit in. Go down the street to a pull off and enjoy the beauty of an immense wilderness.
Avoid this place if you can. We stayed here for 3 nights with out 24 foot RV, and didn't enjoy the experience considering it was close to $60/night. Facilities are very basic, sites are TINY, you get two shower "coupons" per day per site (i.e. one per person if theres two of you), and there's only 3 showers servicing the entire park! I'm talking well over 300 sites. So needless to say the lines for the showers are epic - we chose not to shower at all, rather than wait.
Great setting of course, and even though the sites were very small and close together we spent the days out enjoying the rest of YNP anyway and really only came back for dinner/washing/sleeping. Note for those with a water hookup: bring a water pressure regulator. They had one (remaining) in the store as they advise everyone the pressure is high there. Shops in walking/biking distance. We went for a relatively short hike from the campsite, but did not let the kids out on their own as the scat reminder this is bear country was just 20-30 yards from one of the campground road loops. Would stay here again.
Great location. Tight fit, you can shake your neighbors hand but it really is an awesome location. Friendly staff, nearby grocery and gas station. I would recommend.
