An 1890's red brick building on the Michigan Historic Buildings list has been home to this surprising restaurant for going on 24 years now. The setting is turn-of-the-century saloon, from its patterned tile floor to the Pewabic tiles on the walls, but the all-day menu of fresh fish and steaks and its nice array of wines by the glass rise above the saloon category. Proprietor John Rusu is a hands-on operator, always there to see that things are going well. In addition to the regular menu, there are always specials, typified by sea bass with tomatoes and spinach to pickerel with artichokes and capers.
