“Australia's UFO hotspot but don't worry, so far nobody's been claimed by aliens.”
Wycliffe Well is an oasis in the desert. It’s also Australia’s UFO capital. In fact, Wycliffe Well is one of the top 5 UFO sighting spots of the world as you can be pretty much guaranteed a sighting every couple of days. According to folklore, sightings have occurred since WW2, and there was even a book containing records of UFO sightings from this time until it mysteriously 'disappeared' from the tourist park some years ago. Probably by an alien. Luckily the clever folk from the Wycliffe Well Holiday Park have been taking their own records of sightings from the 1990’s, so you can trawl through those when you’re there and the newspaper clippings covering the walls of the restaurants from spotters and sceptics alike.
Spotters have described the UFOs as ranging from cigar, square and rectangular shapes. And they apparently can shape shift into circles, they can pulsate, and the most spectacular flash a spinning light display shifting from orange to green to red, while others shoot out a rainbow of coloured beams. Daytime sightings have also been recorded, however rest assured the crew of the UFO’s seem generally uninterested in humans and claims of abductions are rare...
In order to catch this surreal phenomenon be sure to give yourself a couple of days and book yourself into Wycliffe Well Holiday Park. The park offers onsite accommodation options, grassed unpowered spaces as well as powered sites (and it’s only a few minutes drive to the majestic (and somewhat devilish) Karlu Karlu / Devils Marbles Conservation Reserve. There is also an auditorium, bar, animal sanctuary, a large fishing/crabbing lake, restaurant and stage with an Aboriginal performance theme. And to top it all off, Wycliffe Well is also home to one of the largest range of beers in Australia. (Do you think the two are correlated?) Wycliffe Well is an oasis in the desert, 380 kilometres north of Alice Springs on the Stuart Highway.
