Visitors can take a dip in this first magnitude spring, walk across the natural limestone bridge that crosses the spring run flowing into the Suwannee River or picnic under the oaks with their swaying Spanish moss. Fish or canoe on the Suwannee River or stay in one of the park's rental cabins, which stand on stilts high above the spring. Bicycling, hiking and wildlife viewing are favorite pastimes for visitors. The picnic area has tables, grills and two pavilions, which are popular for family reunions and parties. Walk-in tent camping in the full-service campground is available to visitors and also serves as a river camp for travelers along the Suwannee River Wilderness Trail. This park is Lafayette Blue Springs located in Lafayette County on the Suwannee River near Mayo, Florida. This park is 140 miles and a three-hour drive from Blue Spring State Park near Orange City, Florida. Lafayette Blue Springs produces up to 168 million gallons of water daily, making it one of Florida's 33 first magnitude springs. Swimming or snorkeling in the spring is a refreshing activity on a hot day; river fishing is also a popular recreation. Visitors can enter the park by boat from the Suwannee River as well as by car. Many visitors enjoy the shaded picnic area. White-tailed deer, gray squirrels, red-shouldered hawks, pileated woodpeckers, and barred owls are some of the animals seen in the park.
Lafayette Blue Springs State Park was wonderful! Spending a whole weekend with the family at the campsite which is very close to all facilities and park was great!
The kids tube while we enjoyed walking around. Everything was clean, not very overcrowded..beautiful place!!
We even saw deer and took great photos, as some seemed to be human friendly!!!! Magnificent! Great place for photographers!!
