Wow! Make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy everything this museum has to offer. As we made our way around the Pensacola area to see other sights, the recommendations to not miss the Naval Museum were consistent. We arrived a little bit later in the day and were quite overwhelmed at the extensive displays; it truly is an amazing place.
A must see! We did the free volunteer led tour and it was awesome! So many full sized aircraft to see. Eat at the restaurant. The food was just ok but it's worth it to sit and take in as much as you can of the actual officers club from the former Philippines base. We did not do the IMAX but there are many free videos throughout that our interesting. We spent 5 hours here including lunch.
We added this top to our trip and were very pleased we did the museum is massive with many different aircraft and military vessels and vehicles. We took the free guided tour which was given by a WWII Veteran Aviator who was extremely well versed in the development of the aircraft and aircraft carriers used in both world wars and their incorporation into the Naval Aviation Corps. We spent about four hours at the museum and barely scratched the surface. Modern history enthusiasts and fans of our military will find this an amazing place well worth the 15 mile detour off I-10 from the Florida welcome center.
