Hidden Gem
Our Take
The Bahai House of Worship is completely unexpected, especially given the location in a cute little Chicago suburb. It’s the only one of its kind in North America. Be on the lookout for instances of the number nine (nine is the last number in the decimal system, practitioners of Bahá'í believe it symbolizes perfection and completion) in the gardens and architecture. You can visit the auditorium and marvel at the views of Lake Michigan from the many windows and glass dome ceiling. Remember to be respectful of the Bahai, and don't take any pictures inside the auditorium. There is also a visitor center just down the steps near the main parking lot with a gift shop and lots of information about the history of the Bahai religion. Anyone who enjoys unique architecture, peaceful gardens, or world history will enjoy a visit to the Bahá'í House of Worship.
