“a very special oasis”
If you are a beach lover; a very special oasis awaits you at the end of a 1;600-foot boardwalk; which spans the most productive estuarine system in all of Lake Worth Cove. The Beach spans nearly 2 miles of the clear blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean. The walk from the parking lot to the beach is a beautiful walk; but if you have kids and "beach stuff" you may opt to take the free tram. Fishing - On shore surf fishing is allowed with a fishing license. Snorkeling; Scuba Diving - Scuba diving and snorkeling are permitted. Marine life is abundant on the reef and rock outcroppings that lie in shallow water near the beach. Reef squid; colorful tropical fish and schools of tarpon and snook are a source of delight for snorkelers. Open daily from 9 to 5; the Welcome and Nature Center is your best source of information about the Park. The Ranger or Volunteer will greet you at the Information Desk; provide details on daily or future events; answer your questions and assist you in getting the most out of your visit. Be certain to check out the many informational brochures and pamphlets which will inform you about the Park's wonderful sites and service. John D. MacArthur Beach State Park is a great place to relax by exercising.
We rented kayaks (waited for 30 minutes approximately, due to the fact it was very busy at this time of the day) and exercised for about 4 hours. Clean water and calm sea were the perfect combination in order to spend our time thoroughly.
We saw crabs and various kinds of fishes! Despite the fact the kids were terrified by the crabs at the beginning, then I shall admit they were amazed they were able to see this kind of sea creatures from such a distance.
Very good place and not far away from the main car park!
I love John D! Great park for a day at the beach or kayaking. There is a good nature trail that only takes about 20 min to walk. This is not a biking park. Jonathan Dickinson about 20 min north on US1 is where you should go if you are looking to bike.
