“family owned campground”
We are a family-owned campground, established in 2002, that is nested in 37 acres of Illinois Valley wilderness. Whether you are tent-camping, RV, or trailer camping, we offer a serene yet fun camping experience for the whole family. We have 88 water/electric/sewer sites, 50 tent sites, and we also offer a large wooded area for groups. Conveniently located right off Route 80 in beautiful North Central Illinois, we are mere minutes away from some of the best hiking trails at Starved Rock State Park and Mathiessen State Park. We are also just 1 mile from historic downtown Utica, which offers such amenities as fine dining and shopping. Whether you're looking for family fun or just to get away for the weekend, Hickory Hollow Campground has the accommodations for all your camping needs! Hope to see you soon.
Friendly staff. Very relaxing overnight.
DO NOT STOP HERE. Owners are incredibly rude -- the woman walked away from me mid-sentence at one point. I pulled in late off the highway after getting stuck on my route. I saw the sign on the highway and as a single woman traveling alone, thought it looked like a safe place to stay for cheap. I arrived after the office was closed and followed the directions for a late check in, just like I had at the KOA the night before. Set up my tent in an allotted area. In the morning was scolded while I was trying to pay that "we don't accept tents after dark" (it was not yet sunset when I had arrived) and that it "wasn't her fault" that policy wasn't posted anywhere. She continued to lecture me until the transaction was complete and I walked out the door. I'm still taken aback by the interaction.
