“This tiny house holds thousands of shell companies..”
This unassuming house in Cheyenne, Wyoming might look like any other neighborhood home, but it's actually the registered address of over 2,000 shell companies. Inside the home sits a single woman who acts as operator for countless corporate "suites", each with their own mailbox.. one of hundreds that line the inside of the house. The main enterprise of this building is to create businesses that will eventually be sold off to those looking to purchase an "established company". It works much the same as buying wine: the older the company, the more expensive it is. Why would anyone look to buy such a company? For one, shell companies can be easily used to hide assets from the IRS. According to a fresh investigation by Reuters, the tiny house on Thomas Ave. provides an entire selection of business services. "Wyoming Corporate Services will help clients create a company, and more: set up a bank account for it; add a lawyer as a corporate director to invoke attorney-client privilege; even appoint stand-in directors and officers as high as CEO. Among its offerings is a variety of shell known as a "shelf" company, which comes with years of regulatory filings behind it, lending a greater feeling of solidity." Their website even boats that their corporations are "a legal person created by state statute that can be used as a fall guy, a servant, a good friend or a decoy. A person you control... yet cannot be held accountable for its actions. Imagine the possibilities!" Old West, indeed.
