Overview
Skagway is a town with a population of less than a thousand in south-eastern Alaska, the largest state in the United States of America. It is the northern terminus of the Alaska Marine Highway System. It sprang up during the Yukon gold rush in the late 1800s, and now subsists almost entirely on tourism. The historical interest and natural beauty of the area make it a worthwhile place to visit.

Fun Facts
- The Golden North Hotel on 3rd and Broadway is the oldest hotel in Alaska. It reached its peak right in the middle of the Gold Rush, but was restored in the 1990's.
- John Nordstrom, of Nordstrom's department stores, got his start during the Klondike Gold Rush. He sold a claim for $13,000 before moving back south to Seattle.
- The closest stoplight and Mcdonald's is over 100 miles away in Whitehorse, Canada.
- Skagway holds the Guiness World Record for most people tossing eggs at one time. It was set in 2008 with 1,162 people stretched in pairs from 2nd street to 8th street on Broadway.
- In the winter, only 1 restaurant is open per week, and they rotate which one that is.
