“interactive highland above the Adirondacks”
The Wild Walk and Wild Center is an elevated walkway and natural trail in northern New York, above Tupper Lake. The elevated walk is also an interactive museum, which offers you a birds-eye view of 80 acres of woodland paradise. The walkway includes a series of bridges and platforms, 40 feet above the ground, and includes a massive bald eagle's nest, and an enormous spider web, to provide visitors with an interactive experience. Charles P. Reay is the designer behind the Wild Walk and Wild Center. Reay studied at Charles Eames studio during the 1960s and is a prolific designer. The Wild Walk will remain open from the fourth of July through Columbus Day, and costs $20 for adults, $13 for visitors 5-17, and free for children under 5. -Roadtrippers We invite people all over the world to discover the story of the Adirondacks, and to explore ways that in all corners of the world we can build better bridges between us and the world of nature that our lives depend on. There's a day's worth of things to see and do at the 54,000-square-foot Center and on our 81-acre campus. Come explore the exhibit halls, meet one of our many animals at an animal encounter, take a woodland walk down to the Raquette River, join us for a live show, or watch one of many amazing films produced by The Wild Center. It's all covered by your single admission. Wild Walk opens too, a chance to walk over the tree tops, and explore life the way it's lived on the wilder side. The Wild Center's movie, A Matter of Degrees, narrated by Sigourney Weaver, was a finalist at the Banff Mountain Film Festival and first prize winner at the National Association for Interpretation. Filmed exclusively for The Wild Center's wide screen, it's screened each day.
