“A peaceful hiking sanctuary nestled in New Jersey”

Herrontown Woods Arboretum (142 acres) is an arboretum located on Snowden Lane near the junction with Herrontown Road, in Princeton, New Jersey. It is open to the public every day at no cost. The arboretum was donated to the Mercer County Park Commission in 1957 by mathematician Prof. Oswald Veblen (1880-1960) of the Institute for Advanced Study, and is preserved in its natural state. It contains a pine forest, over 30 species of trees, shrubs, and flowers, and walking trails.. The park offers trails, bird-watching, wildflowers, wildlife and an arboretum. The wooded park is ideal for hiking and offers more than three miles of color-coded trails. Intrepid explorers can even take a hike through the woods in search of an abandoned cottage owned by the famed mathematician.
