“A Texas State Historic Site”
Historic military fort, campground, recreational and astronomical viewing area, and home to the official State of Texas longhorn herd.
Visited here in September 2014 with my 11-month old son, and we had a great time. The visitor center is newly renovated and has an amazing museum inside. You're free to roam the historic site, which is loaded with ruins. I had a fabulous time taking loads of photos. The weather was hot, but beautiful.
PRO TIP: Ask the cashier for directions to the ghost town down the road. It was a total hidden gem!
A beautiful campground belonging to the state with approximately 30 sites (tent, full hookup or water elec.) $$-$$$ is just across the road.
My wife and I spent 3 plus hours touring this park on "free" provided golf carts.
Awesome place with lots of history.
