You can hike, boat, camp, walk around the fort -- and they have a herd of longhorns right at the campsite. Plus the sites are very spread out and clean. Its pretty far from town, so make sure you have everything you need.

This is the best maintained park that I have camped at. The sites are well spaced.
We were in sight # 5 under 100+ year old Live Oaks. Planned to stay 6 days and decides to stay 14 days.

This is another campground on the Texas Forts Trail, so don't miss Fort Griffin!
Sites are widely spaced variety of hookup options, dump station.
Texas Longhorns reside here.
Fishing, boating available.
About 30 miles north of Albany, which is a great little town to visit. Great stop for supplies before heading out. Try the Beehive for real Texas Steaks.
Great playground, kids enjoy riding bikes on the roads. Some trails.
Quiet, check for burn bans.
Cell service? IDK.
Visitor headquarters has a great gift shop. Bathroom house in park.

Passing through the area and so glad to find this campground late in the evening. We had been aiming for a State Park further west, but weren’t going to make it before dark. Stopped at another park, but couldn’t find where the campground was located. This park is really nice.
Twenty sites have electric and water only and another 10 or so have full hookups. There is also a walk-in area for tent campers with water. We didn’t check out the bathhouse.
We paid $15 for one night in a site with E/W. There’s also an entrance fee of $4 per person ($3 for seniors).
No TV reception, very weak cellular signal. Glad we weren’t relying on those for entertainment.

Clean grounds and showers, level 50 amp site with FHU 22$ plus 4$ per person daily. Nice for a night but not much around except the Fort tour which cost 8$ but is included in park fee. No OTA tv and slow 3g Verizon. Never saw the host, it is pay at the entrance on the honor system.

This is a clean, well-kept campground that is quiet and dark at night, so it is great for listening to wildlife and stargazing. It is easy to access and navigate, and utilities all work well. Site 19 has the most privacy, if that is important to you. There is a hiking trail, Texas state longhorn herd, and fort tours. No OTA TV or Verizon service. Nice place to stay for a day or two.
