“Laid-Back Easter Island Head”
An Easter Island head made of rusted steel, 11 feet tall, with a satisfied, surfer-dude grin. South edge of town. In a little park on the west side of 3rd Ave. SW, just north of its intersection with NE 38th Ave. Two blocks west of 1st Ave., which is I-80 exit 143.
This is located at a really cool children's park (pirate ship theme). The picture is misleading. It is in a neighborhood in a park. This would be a good stop for some kiddos to get out and run around. There are some benches for some nice picnic and lunch time.
It's at a children's park in the middle of a subdivision.
It sure is big. Probably not worth the stop.
Super cool park!!! Its called Pirates Cove park because the play structure is an awesome pirate ship. The Moai Dude is cool too. There is even a port a potty. The map is wrong on here. It is on the corner of 3rd ave and 24th st. Totally worth the stop if you have kids!
Location has been moved to ironwood park, about a block away
Ironwood Park...Altoona Iowa
Pretty cool playground. Decent place to stop and eat with kids if you bring your own food, of course.
The head is at Ironwood Park off 24th south of where the mark is on the map.
I decided to stop - the playground there looks new and really nice I'd say if you have kids definitely drop by. I'm in my twenties with no kids but still stopped for a photo..
Exit #143, go south. At 24th Street (which is also 38th), take a right. There's s nice playground there too.
