“authentic western setting”
At Fort Amarillo RV Park & Resort, you'll enjoy an authentic western setting, complete with evening campfires, a stream-fed fishing pond, illuminated walking paths and sunsets so breathtaking, even the most eloquent cowboy poets don't do them justice.

Confirmed by 10 users | Last reported on June 12, 2023While on our roadtrip around Texas we decided to take a break from all the driving so we stopped at the Fort Amarillo RV Resort for two days. Our check in went fast and smoothly and the staff was very friendly just looking to help you in any way they could. They offered a large variety of things to do, both for children and adults. There was an indoor heated pool, a gym and a hot tub, they all seemed very clean and they were easily accessible. The kids had their own play area. There was also a small fishing pond on the premises and their gift shop was very nice if you are looking to get some souvenirs from your trip. I have to add that the WiFi had a strong signal all around the resort, no problem there! All in all, if you are near Amarillo and are looking for a place to park your RV and blow off some steam for a few days, then I highly recommend this resort to you.
When we stayed here, the weather was extremely cold, so everyone was running through propane at an amazing rate. Nonetheless, the park was extremely responsive, filling up our tanks quickly every time we asked. There was also construction at the RV park underway, but it never blocked our path.
The staff was always very friendly and helpful. The only slip-up was when we had a dog-sitter turn in our 5th wheel key to the office and it was lost. The staff offered to pay for a replacement from a locksmith.
Amarillo isn't known for its trees, but the park has made an effort to place them on every other site. In addition, some privacy is created by low fences between all sites. Located just on the edge of town right off I-40, it's convenient to lots of shopping and dining in Amarillo. Most sites are pull-thrus, but there are also some back-ins.
There are plenty of amenities, like a duck pond, picnic area, dog run, indoor heated pool and rec center, basketball court, and playground. I also got some Christmas shopping done at the Western gift shop on site, Lizzie Mae's Mercantile.

We really enjoyed this RV park. Typically we prefer state parks and national recreation areas where we have more space around us. But sometimes we need to stay at an RV park and this was a nice one. The people that work there are wonderful, and there are a lot of very nice amenities like an indoor pool, a playground, a cute fish and duck pond, and a game room. There is a big hole where a hot tub is supposed to be. That was a little disappointing as I was looking forward to the advertised hot tub.
The sites are very long to accommodate big rigs, it's very easy in and out. And each site is separated by a short fence. The landscaping at the park is very nice as well.
The resort is close to most everything we wanted to visit in Amarillo including the RV Museum and Cadillac Ranch. Also Palo Duro Canyon is only about a 30 minute drive and well worth it.
Verizon and AT&T worked well here and also the park WiFi worked well which is rare.
If we are ever in Amarillo again we would definitely stay here.

Good Sam. Nice park with long sites with newer picnic tables and some have either grass or AstroTurf with cement slabs. Lots of pull through with easy in and out. Beautiful gift shop on grounds. Nice large fenced grass dog park. Laundry and showers are clean. Indoor swimming pool (didn't see). Wifi is good with cable. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

This is our second time staying here. The sites are easy in and easy out and quite long. We had plenty of room for our 41 ft 5th wheel and truck. The park is nicely landscaped with a nice indoor pool also. The first time we stayed there in April 2016 I was disappointed to find a hole where the hot tub is supposed to be. I assumed they were just fixing it and it would actually be there this time, but the same hole was still there so I guess they're not planning to fix it. The office staff are super helpful and friendly, and I love that they waive the extra charge for kids for Fulltime Families members. Thank you for that! Verizon worked very well here.

We stayed here on our way out to and on the way back from Utah and the Grand Canyon. Both times were great stops. The sites are spacious. They have a grass turn out for the pets. We played basketball on their courts to get some energy out of the boys. We swam in the heated pool and they even had a game room and an exercise room. We were late getting in one night, but they had everything ready for us to just pull in and slide everything out. I highly recommend this RV Resort for a night or two!

The sites are relatively small and gravel. It appears that 80% of them are occupied by long term stationary tenants. There was a pretty rough crowd there when we stayed. The guy behind us had two large Rottweilers chained up unsupervised outside for hours, where he let them bark.
I would recommend you check out the Oasis RV Resort on the other side of town if you need to stay in Amarillo.

Check in with camp host was friendly and informative. The park has lots of amenities including sport courts, large grassy dog run, showers, laundry, pool, shop, and a little pond and picnic area. Spaces are close together but separated by short fences and are on gravel. Our spot was almost level and most seem to be the same - this is flat country. All the utilities were easy to connect and seem well maintained. 30 and 50 amp on the same pole. There is cable TV. All spaces have a picnic table on a concrete pad and space to park a car. We had a pull-through space near the front of the park and thankfully near the dog park because we have 2 small dogs. There is free WiFi and we had great connection. This was our shake down trip - we live here and store our coach near this park. There are full timers her e also, but it’s a clean, quiet, well maintained park and is perfect for people wanting to stop in Amarillo for a night or two. The campground is right behind Gander RV if you need supplies for your camper.

We were able to book a spot at this campground for a quick one night just a few hours prior to arrival. The camp host was very friendly and informative. It’s located in an industrial part of Amarillo, so I wouldn’t say the views are fantastic, but it certainly serves a purpose. The campground has also built a cute community of old west buildings that give the feel of an old western movie - very cute!
Each site has a little grass turf area for pets and the resort also has a large grassy area for dogs to play. The streets were easy to navigate and the site was plenty large for our rig and truck.
We would absolutely stay here again when passing through Amarillo. While we were just quickly visiting family on this trip, the resort’s overall access to the nearby Palo Duro Canyon and other Amarillo staples (Cadillac Ranch) is great.

Like others have said, the location is great and the office staff is lovely. Lots of pretty features in the campground but we just felt completely jammed in, especially since most other sites had huge motor homes or fifth wheels. We pulled up stakes after two nights of not sleeping because of our neighbor’s heater going on/off all night and it was worth going elsewhere, even though we lost the $$ for the last night.
Our site had no picnic table although others did. Seems to cater to seasonal or full time customers.
