Somewhat less dazzling in the hot day time, but still an awesome place to get tasty food at a steal of a price. They also serve the best onion rings I have had in my life!

Especially if you're into drive-in's and diners, this is a must! The hugest in the world, supposedly. Get the onion rings, and ideally go at night.

I recommend going to The Varsity while you're in Athens. Definitely know what you want when you get to the register. You can't go wrong with a Frosted Orange and a cheeseburger. Few healthy options, but worth the splurge.

Hands down, the best onion rings I've ever had. I came here on a recommendation from a friend. I was starting out on my cross country trip from North Carolina to California, so I swung by The Varsity for lunch. We opted to go into the restaurant, rather than go through the drive-in (easily, the largest drive-in I've ever seen). I was greeted with a chorus of "What'll ya have?!" as I walked in, though the entire restaurant was bustling, the employees were still attentive to patrons walking in. I ordered 2 chili dogs and onion rings. The chili dogs were exceptional, but I still dream about those onion rings. The prices were pretty decent, albeit a bit high.

It's an Atlanta institution and people say you should go, but I think it's getting a bit old/not keeping up with the food times. Needs a refresh of ingredient sourcing.

BUT, "West Virginia style" hot dogs. Period. Do you know what that means? If not, you should 100% swing by and give it a try :).

And, if you love onion rings, HELL yes. This place is where it's at.

This place is massive and practically lights up the night sky. Not necessarily a cool little hidden gem, but still a great place to grab a burger. Must try the onion rings!

I love The Varsity! Me n my newlywed wife stopped there on our way to Florida for our honeymoon. The food was even better than we remembered. Always a great spot to stop at.

I LOVED this stop. The diner is huge with delicious food and an interesting history. We went during the day when it is less crowded and had a lot of fun! Definitely TRY THE ONION RINGS.

Cash only. Mediocre food. Less than charming staff. There are much better places to experience in Atlanta than this outdated, overrated joint.
