Far north end of Mount Desert Island, so convenient to both Bar Harbor to the south and big-box shopping to the north. We were in site 131, a pull through. Was open and sunny - no shade, but still only got 2 of 3 western arc Dish satellites since those satellites are low in the sky and the trees between our site and the ocean blocked one of the satellites. Nice patio with fire ring with built in grill, plus barbecue and table. Site was level enough, and long enough for MH and toad. However, exiting was too tight to hook up at site, so had to do that near dump station. WiFi, cable, and water pressure were all good. Nice dog park. On site outdoor lobster restaurant was pretty good. All the staff were very friendly and helpful - definitely some of the nicest RV park people we've ever met. Mosquitoes were kinda bad - but repellent works well enough for that. Since we are retired and don't have kids, we might opt for a more adult-oriented campground next time. If you have kids, they will love this place.
Get a waterfront spot if you can plan early enough! This campground is absolutely gorgeous and plentiful in amenities- camp store, beach, view, free shuttle to bar harbor, activities (tie dyeing!), laundry and full hookups! Worth the visit!
Had a very nice site and time at the Bar Harbor KOA. The lobster roll and lobster dinner on site was a real plus.
This is a nice KOA but it is tight spaces. Seems to be the case for many of the parks in the area. Road noise on the sites closer to the road. Nice helpful folks. On the bus route and central drive distance to most of the island. Wifi is available but we were not able to connect.

MDI is a beautiful island! This campground is on the island right when you cross over from the mainland. The price was high, but the location worked great for us. As Bar Harbor has become quite commercial, we only spent part of our time there and much of our time exploring Acadia National Park. This KOA was more convenient for us in exploring the island than staying in Bar Harbor. We did drive by the Bar Harbor RV park, however, it's commercial location and no-reservation system did not work for us. This park worked beautifully for us.
We had an end site, which created a spacious area for us. Some of the sites are incredibly close together, but if you reserve in advance and carefully choose your site you will find great options. We loved being near the water and having a tiny window view of the bay from our campsite. The laundry facility was extra large and extremely well maintained. This park offers an outside restaurant-like experience every night, however we did not utilize it. It had many of the typical KOA amenities. Although the price was high (our price reflects and extra $5 per night for our 3rd child), we would stay here again and reserve a spot earlier in the year so that we could have a waterfront site...the location was beautiful and convenient for touring the island.

Ok, I get it.. It's Maine in the summer so prices are high but $78 a night for partial hook-ups when you're packed in like sardines is outrageous!
We were fortunate enough to get a site on the water but it was a tight un-level fit for even our touring van.
We would stay here again but more during the off season and only on the water.
I can't say much about the facilities as we did not use them but the dog park was clean and the employees were all super friendly. The GM was great as well, originally booked for two nights but after booking we realized that the area was expecting heavy rains the next day and we couldn't justify paying $78 to be stuck inside our van all day so she let us cancel with no fee!

This place is as pretty neat. We splurged a little for a waterfront site. Downside is it only had electric and water. Supposedly they have a honey wagon that comes through. We woke up to a gorgeous view every morning. It was a little to cold to sit outside.
The campground was clean and had a cute little stand that had breakfast in the morning and a lobster dinner at night. The lobster and corn were tasty but the coleslaw and postage salad side were substandard. We got it to go to take it back to our MH and within seconds the bottom of the bag was falling out and lobster juice was everywhere. So be careful. They also had lobster rolls, mussels, etc. and ice cream for dessert.
The campground had tight spaces but with picnic table and fire ring. It is also a great location for getting around. There was a laundry room with a lot of machines. Everything was very clean including the bathrooms.
There is a lot to do in the area so it makes for a great vacation.

near-ocean sites, but very tight. Lots of parties, due to beach. Beach is accessible and can see seals right from the shore. Beach also means lots of sites without FHU, so they have a daily honey wagon service that you can pay for (~$20/dump). Nice store. There is also a lobster shack onsite which is not too bad. Cell service is limited. Site prices are super high also, but this is on Mount Desert Island in the summer....

The website advertises beautiful waterfront spots, but they’re misleading. Many “waterfront” spots are actually water views blocked by many other RV’s. There is limited privacy and the spots are all on top of each other. It’s also very overpriced. If you’re looking for a remote, romantic experience - this isn’t it. There are plenty if other campgrounds within Acadia.
The plus - there’s a great lobster shack on the property which delivers fresh lobster to your campsite.

Campground was really tight. it was functional and clean....typical KOA. I would be interested in staying at other parks on the island. It is hard to get a water front site, so book way early!!
