“summer swimming, winter skating!”
The Boston Common Frog Pond is nestled in the heart of America’s oldest public park offering a place to enjoy and experience the historic Boston Common throughout the year. In the summer you can swimming in Boston Common Frog Pong. It may be the sweetest spot to cool off in the city. You get every angle of this fabulous city! In the winter the pond freezes over and you can skate on it! The perfect place for a date, family fun or just with your friends! With a winter ice rink and skating school, a reflecting pool in the spring and fall, and a summer spray pool and children’s carousel, there are always fun and exciting activities for residents and tourists alike.
Fun place to go on a hot summer day, the park itself is really pretty. With kids I recommend getting some sandwiches or takeout from anywhere nearby and going to the park, hanging out by the pond, and you can also see the duck states from "Make Way for Ducklings" - a good little piece of nostalgia for those who read the book when they were young.
I've only been to the pond in the winter, but it's a classic. Ice skaters of all levels are always here and it's easy and affordable (around $8) to rent skates for the night. They play music, and host free skate most nights. While it's not huge, it's large enough to host a hundred people or so (average attendance) and have room to mess-around even if you can't skate.
