“Come enjoy some peace and quite in the great outdoors”
The Folkestone is nestled in a grove of giant Norway Spruce beside a mountain brook near the Deep Creek area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The inn is just two miles north of Bryson City, a sleepy little mountain community (pop. 1,400) which offers peace and quiet amid a wealth of natural scenery and outdoor activities. There’s hiking, tubing and trout fishing in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, mountain biking on the famous Tsali trails, fishing on Fontana Lake, sightseeing on the Great Smoky Mountains Scenic Railroad and white water rafting on the Nantahala River. A 1920’s mountain farmhouse, the Folkestone offers ten guest rooms, all with private baths with claw foot tubs and showers. Upstairs, the Inn offers private balconies with vistas of the Great Smoky Mountains, while the downstairs rooms offer an old world charm, with flagstone floors and pressed-tin ceilings. Central air conditioning. Breakfast specialities include eggs Benedict and french toast stuffed with bananas and walnuts.
