“The world's highest suspension bridge”
The Royal Gorge Bridge & Park is unlike any destination you’ll ever experience. A journey of epic proportions with more than 360 acres and 21 rides, shows and attractions to explore. Where families and friends alike will marvel at the awe-inspiring panoramic views from one of the world’s highest suspension bridges – hanging 956 feet high and spanning a quarter mile across the canyon. But whether you’re looking to sightsee, have an adventure, go on a family vacation or a day trip, this one-of-a-kind attraction has something for everyone. The Royal Gorge Bridge is a tourist attraction near Cañon City, Colorado, within a 360-acre theme park. The bridge deck hangs 955 feet above the Arkansas River, and held the record of highest bridge in the world from 1929 until 2001, when it was surpassed by the Liuguanghe Bridge in China. It is a suspension bridge with a main span of 938 feet. The bridge is 1,260 feet long and 18 feet wide, with a wooden walkway with 1292 planks. The bridge is suspended from towers that are 150 feet high. As of 2011, it is still among the ten highest bridges in the world and remains the highest in the United States.
If you don't plan to ride all the rides or zipline, just look from the parking lot so you don't have to pay the outrageous prices for entering the park- you can see the whole gorge from the parking lot overlook.
Skip it. The scenery is meh, the bridge is no big deal, and the prices these people are trying to charge is infuriating. I would recommend taking the time and money you would've spent here and just taking a nice scenic drive to Pike's Peak via Cripple Creak (What I did immediately after leaving this rip off and it was spectacular)
The bridge was really neat but everything was very expensive.
This bridge was a fantastic family stop. We didn't have time to take in all the rides, but the historic bridge was fun to walk across and provided a great view and photo opportunity of the gorgeous River Valley and railway. I would love to come back and raft this part of the river or ride the train below.
Beautiful scenery and nice walk. We spent part of our time at bridge and park and part of the day at railroad. Great trip!
While the bridge is definitely something worth seeing, I would prefer to see it from a raft down in the Arkansas River next time. As others have said, the price is a little too high. I wanted to see the Gorge and the bridge. Instead, I feel like I paid for a subpar amusement park that treated the real attraction as an afterthought.
Price is way to high! My husband paid the price but I'm scared of heights so I did not go. You can see the whole Gorge from the parking lot, why pay that price. Not worth it!
Not worth the cost. It's expensive to get in, and everything costs more money inside. We walked across a bridge.
The bridge and park are closed until Labor Day.
