“discover the regal art deco architecture”

Named in honor of America's servicemen and women, The American Theatre opened on September 19, 1942. Now The American Theatre stands as one of Charleston's most unique event venues and a state of the art meeting and conference facility. Opened in 1942 as Charleston's premier movie house, The American Theater's roots are regal Art Deco architecture and timeless Hollywood glamour.  Today this stylish and sophisticated 8,000-square-foot event venue showcases a grand ballroom, vintage exterior marquee and state-of-the-art cinema with stadium seating. Theater used in the film "The Notebook"

I didn't go in or anything, but it is beautiful from the outside. Parking is extremely hard to find in the area and it is hard to get a picture of the building because of how busy the area is, but it's a great stop if you love the movie "The Notebook."
