“A boutique Virginian winery”
Boutique winery located on Thomas Jefferson's original 1773 vineyard sites, one mile south of Monticello. We produce nationally recognized wines from classic varietals. Tours & tasting daily.
If you're touring Monticello, you really can't beat the location. This is right on the way, and wine tastings are always a good time. We opted for the "tour," which took us through the entire wine-making process, and that was really neat. We had a great tour guide (older gentleman) and he let me ask about a zillion questions.
As for the tasting room, there was an awkward wait after the tour (Do we just go up to the bar and start tasting? Are we supposed to wait? Who do we go to? etc). We finally got up to the counter and had an incredibly rude woman serve us. She spent most of the time either badmouthing her coworkers who, apparently, flaked out on work that day, or badmouthing the other local vineyards. The wine itself was fine, though.
