“connecting people to the living world”
Shedd connects people to the living world. We engage and inspire, entertain and inform. We are a vital teaching and learning resource, conservation leader, neighborhood partner and global collaborator. We are passionate about our animals, their habitats and the planet we share. You’ll find something wet, wild and wonderful wherever you walk at Shedd. Our galleries are home to creatures from the Waters of the World – rivers and reefs, Great Lakes and small ones, and the global ocean. So take a tour of the water planet. Want to explore a little deeper? Immerse yourself in the Caribbean Reef, Amazon Rising’s flooded forest, the Abbott Oceanarium’s Pacific Northwest coast and Wild Reef’s Indo-Pacific reef. Go totally polar in Polar Play Zone and be sure to see Shedd's aquatic show.
We went and saw the baby Dolphin today and loved every minute of it. We made a smart choice to buy a membership. If you plan on going to the Shedd more than once a year, just buy a membership. If you buy a membership, here is the great part:
1) Tax-deductible- It is 100% tax deductible!
2) Get there early and you can have a private showing of every animal. Members walk right pass the lines and get a bracelet.
3) You get the early show tickets for the dolphins.
My last tip has nothing to do with a membership:
4) Bring food in your pocketbook or backpack. $5.00 for a cup of fruit is too expensive for me!
Really awesome aquarium! If you're lucky enough to go see the dolphin show on a stormy day, you'll have a rough Lake Michigan crashing up behind the show as a beautiful backdrop. Great place to visit with little ones or just on your own. It's a bit pricey ($54 for adults I believe) but definitely worth at least one visit.
This place was amazing! Friendly people. It's very updated and modern. Tons of fish, frogs, dolphins, and friendly people. And hey we loved the water show. And animal feeding. Very family friendly even for toddlers
Such a cool aquarium for all ages. My siblings and I used to go with my parents when we were in college and enjoyed it just as much as the five year olds. Very cool spot and also very cool seeing the lake run right alongside the aquarium itself.
A MUST SEE
