“French for "Bar of the City"”
The French-inspired name may translate to "bar of the city," but this corner tavern in the former La Manzanilla space is all about keeping things local and laid-back. Brought to you by Matt Eisler (Empire Liquors, Angels & Kings) and designer Kevin Heisner (who both live nearby) this is the kind of cool little watering hole you can wander into for a fun, no-frills night out. The duo was inspired by trips to Barcelona and Paris, so you'll find rag-tag furniture reminiscent of European flea markets and, on busy nights, waitresses wandering the bar selling cans of beer right off the six-pack. Order local Goose Island or Half Acre brews on tap, or ask the bartender to whip up a classic cocktail with a twist, like a stirred-not-shaken gin and vermouth martini or a margarita sweeted with blue agave syrup.
As a local, I love this bar. Ask Matt or one of the excellent bar tenders for a Songbird. It one some cocktail awards, and it tastes like fresh, cut grass. Delicious! Friday nights are fun dance parties, though it can get a little crowded. I personally love to just chill out in the back with friends and a fine cocktail.
