“Old Fashioned Donuts everyday”
For those who crave instant gratification, it is a maddening place because a line starts forming well before the door opens, so you always will have to wait for donuts, sometimes up to an hour. But these are some very good donuts: cakey, old-fashioned buttermilks with crusty fissures all around the surface, jumbo glazed donuts (chestnut, chocolate and vanilla), and an item titled gingerbread stack, which actually is three small, sugar-crusted sinkers. That, plus coffee, is the extent of the menu. It is amazing to watch the server behind the counter -- there is room for one and only one staff member -- as she fills boxes with dozens at lightning speed and with amazing good cheer considering the constant press of hungry customers she deals with all morning."
If you live in Chicago & haven't been to Doughnut Vault, you're doing something wrong. The chestnut glazed and the gingerbread stack are both incredible, but be sure to get there early because they do tend to sell out.
Ya gotta there early but these are to die for !!!!
The sweets at this Brendan Sodikoff-backed doughnut shop are worth waiting in line for. The chocolate-glazed rarely runs out early, but follow the shop on Twitter to be extra careful.
