“Reimagining breakfast and lunch”
Sleepy Bee is dedicated to reimagining breakfast and lunch with a local, healthy, creative edge. Otherwise known as: the way it should be done. Things like sourcing meat, eggs, and seasonal produce from family farms nearby. Commissioning local artists to enhance our dining space. Creating a welcoming destination for families, businesspeople, and hungry folk, united by a desire for something great. And paying tribute to the amazing pollinators who make it all possible.
ACoop is right that it's not cheap, but it's all from local farmers/grass fed/no antibiotics-- so it's worth it. If you're a sprouted grain lover, you can get sprouted bread!!! Their pastries are UNREAL.
The Sleepy Bee is a real gem, their brunch is fantastic but beware, on the weekend there's literally a line coming out the door. They have a waiting area in the back where you can sit and have coffee and pastries while you're waiting for your table. The Queen Bee is my favorite thing on the menu - delicious breakfast sandwich with a perfectly cooked egg and runny yolk over everything. Their roasted vegetables are an awesome side too.
organic, fresh, different, tasty, expensive. Overall a really great breakfast experience if you want a nice, new location and don't want a diner-type atmosphere like The Echo down the street.
Love the sleepy bee, the wait can be long because it's such a popular spot but they have ample waiting areas and good coffee + pastries to enjoy in the meantime. Definitely recommend.
Sleepy Bee is a popular breakfast spot in Oakley (serving lunch as well). They use fresh/organic ingredients and the quality of the food is always on point. The buttermilk pancakes here are a must try - really big and fluffy. You can actually substitute toast for one buttermilk pancake for no charge (not on the menu so just ask the server)! I almost always go with the Avocado Omelette as it's packed with avocado (go figure), spinach, mushrooms, onions, tomato, and cheddar cheese. One weird thing that I like is their ketchup - ask for extra! It's made with fresh tomatoes and no artificial ingredients. Just try it and you'll see why...Weekday mornings are the best time to try this place as they have really long waits (hour plus) on weekends.
I was pleasantly surprised! My friend and I went at 9:30 on a weekday morning. It was right after a holiday, so the restaurant was crowded but we were seated immediately. We had to park a few blocks away, but the walk wasn't too bad. The waiter was very attentive and I was shocked how quickly he took our orders and brought our food out. Everything was delicious, but it's expensive. Everything is $10 or more, which is pricey for glorified diner fare. But it was all delicious and unique. It can impossible to get in on weekends, but I'd definitely return!
Super tasty breakfast. A little on the expensive side, but where else are you gonna get pancakes with pieces of bacon in the batter, candied walnuts on top, and a huge dollop of whipped cream? NOWHERE ELSE, that's where.
Good and high quality, but it ain't cheap!
I've been here a few more times since my first review - I find myself liking it more and more. They have my favorite breakfast sandwich in the city (the Broakley) and really good smoothies. Still very expensive, so it's more of a treat to come here than it is a regular spot
I'd been resisting going to this place because it was in the burbs and supposed to be crowded. But I went at 1:30pm this weekend without a wait and it was SO DELICIOUS. I paid $17 for an unreal gluten-free pumpkin muffin that didn't taste that way + a ciabatta sandwich with eggs and goetta and avocado and sprouts. Attentive coffee refills for that price. Best part about this place is the morning vibe and ambiance that naturally take over. Temptations playing over the radio and hard wood floors and babies and servers in "bee" t-shirts and heavenly french toast stacks. Not a diner and not cheap but one of the best breakfasts in Cincinnati.
