This is a nice little state park. Some of the sites have a slope to them but there are level sites or ones you can get level fairly quickly. We stayed on a Sunday night in early June so the camp ground was pretty quiet. You walk through beautiful mature oaks to get to nice beach although there were warnings about blue/green algae but people were swimming. We did not use bathrooms so can't comment on cleanliness. Rate was $16/night w elec and $19/night for full hookup. We would definitely stay again.
Our site was very nice, somewhat shaded, dirt, a bit unlevel, and plenty long enough for the motorhome, trailer, and car, as we unhooked the car. Our site had electric only, however, there are sites with water and electric. The bath houses were clean. The lake is very nearby and there’s a nice walk way. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area. Site: 152 $ 20.00 @ night
A thing to see: A Ray “Bubba” Sorensen has painted large rocks, “Freedom Rock”, in 99 counties of Iowa to honor veterans, since 1999. One of his rocks is in Clear Lake. He has also painted rocks in Minnesota, Missouri, Washington state, and Wisconsin. North Dakota, Nebraska, and Illinois are on this “to do list”. He’s ultimate goal is to paint a rock in all 50 states. The city of Clear Lake has a beautiful area surrounding the rock. We drove around the historic town of Clear Lake, cute, cute little town.
