“A New Era in Cleveland brewing”
In the 1870s, Cleveland had 30 breweries. By the early 1980s, the last one had shuttered its doors. So when brothers Patrick and Daniel Conway opened Great Lakes Brewing Company on September 6, 1988, it not only signaled a new era in Cleveland brewing, it was also the first microbrewery in the state of Ohio. And the idea of a craft brewery in Cleveland caught on fast, as curious patrons hurried in for a pint crafted in the styles of old and drawn from the taps of the beautiful Victorian era bar. The company’s commitment to sustainable business practices greatly contributed to its early popularity and success. Before long, Great Lakes Brewing Company had become one of Cleveland’s most popular destinations for both dining and a fun night out.
If you live in Ohio, you've undoubtedly seen Great Lakes beer in your grocery store... this brewery delivers in both beer selection and food. If you're a fan of the beer, this will be a must-see while in Cleveland
Beautiful bar, old school pub food, and easy/ fast and cheap parking.
We did the brewery tour and it was great! $5, 60minute guided tour, 4 drink samples, and a deeper appreciation for this brewing company. The history is fascinating, the beers themselves are simply delicious. We did not eat at the brew pub, but will the next time we are in town.
Loved it! Friday at 5:30pm and seated immediately on the covered patio. Service quick and helpful. Excellent food (amazing Mac & Cheese with chicken and bacon!) and a tasty veggie burger for the hub. Adding super bonus points was the "Fatty Wagon" shuttle bUs for $1 to the baseball stadium.
One of the best places to grab a bite to eat in Cleveland before an Indians game or anytime. Great craft beers and delicious food added together with the great atmosphere of the area and you have yourself one great place to visit.
Looking for a historic pint of some of Cleveland's best? Or perhaps a warm meal to fill you on a cool autumn night? Maybe even some place cool to visit with friends in the summer? This place has it ALL! Each beer tells a story of some local history, and even the bar itself has bullet holes from the days of Elliot Ness and the Untouchables - just ask the bartender! If you are going through Cleveland and want a taste of Ohio, this is the place to be.
