“come learn Hudson River History”
The Foundry School Museum contains exhibits about the West Point Foundry and other aspects of Hudson River history. Housed in the 1830s schoolhouse built to educate apprentices and children of workers at the foundry, the museum features examples of ironwork produced at the mill, including items related to the Parrott gun, as well as John Ferguson Weir’s 1866 painting “The Gun Foundry.” Other rooms feature original schoolroom furnishings, a 19th-century kitchen, Hudson River paintings, and artifacts related to local history.
