“Great in a heat wave”
One heck of a fire hydrant... Just don't bring Fido- he might go nuts! This huge tilted steel construction isn't much of an eye pleaser, but serves as a nice photo op if you are passing through Columbia, SC.
A fun thing to see! The signs telling people not to allow their dogs to pee is funny!! I think Clifford the big red dog is the only dog that purse use it correctly.
murals were really amazing. funny aspect to the hydrant - there are signs around it to not let your dog pee on the hydrant. :-)
Angel is right! I think the murals by the hydrant are even cooler. Pull your car up and it looks like you're driving into the mural. Perfect road trip photo op.
What a nice attraction! not ony that but there are tw life like murals in the same parking area!
Fun to see and got kids giggling.
It’s actually on Taylor St, one block over. We like to stop at photo ops, take a quick pic & get back on the road. Breaks up our trip & makes it fun. So this was great for that. We then went over another block and got crepes at Crepes and Croissants. Yummy!
There's no sign commemorating it, so honestly I'm a little skeptical about the truthfulness of "the world's largest." However, the surrounding sidewalks and parking lots are full of BEAUTIFUL murals. Got some really cool pics. Not far off the interstate, and you get to drive through the university campus which was gorgeous. Worth a quick stop.
We like to visit the "World's Largest" things when traveling. This was an alright stop, but kind of a one and done. Once you've seen it, you've been there done that. It's free. Would be more interesting if near a fire house, and more brightly painted.
Yep, that's a big ass fire hydrant. Funny signs saying not to let your dog pee on it, they don't say anything about peeing on it yourself though... Maybe I would have tried it if this didn't share a parking lot with a police department..
You can no longer pull up to the murals to take pictures they are behind an automated gate now.
Just one of those stops worth seeing.
