Nice large park in the Columbia metro area. It has a medium size lake for kayaking, canoeing, and fishing and has several nice trails, (some concrete, some natural.)
We stayed in site 19. The site was perfect for our teardrop setup. It is close to the bathhouse and the site was almost perfectly level.
The bathhouse was clean, but is showing it’s age. Only one shower and 2 stalls. However due to COVID-19, it was limited to one person at a time.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
The only negative was the lack of campground etiquette of some of the other campers. Some would cut through occupied sites instead of walking down the road to the restrooms.
The campsites in Loop 1 seem to be a lot more level and spread out than Loop 2.
We had 2-3 bars on Verizon.

We stayed overnight here on the way to the Myrtle Beach area. This is a fantastic park in the Columbia area. We stayed on a Sunday night in early October and we shared the campground with only about a dozen other campers. The campground is a short walk to a very nice lake with a nice walking path around it. The park is right off of a major road with lots of shopping and eating options, but It was amazingly peaceful and quiet. We plan on staying more than one night the next time we pass through this area.

We just stayed overnight, but the park is pretty and campsites with water and electric were located off wooded loops. Great for a night or two or to enjoy some paddling or swimming on the nice lake.

Stayed 1 night, campground is in a beautiful setting under large trees. Really nice playground for the kids. Water and 30 amp. Quite a bit of road noise due to the fact that it's pretty much in the middle of a major city. Very convenient stop if traveling along I77 or I26.

If you are a bus or big RV, stay in the first loop, the second is too small. Congaree National park is 30 minutes away. Really pretty park, well kept. Lake is beautiful, grounds are beautiful. Quiet, peaceful and great Internet. Bathrooms are acceptable. VERY unlevel sites.

Site Info: There are very few sites that are sort of close to level. And a lot of them were very inclined or declined. A lot of sites looked like they could use grading as there were big ruts. We had to back up a hill and put two 2x’s under the front wheels so they wouldn’t be off the ground when we leveled. On the positive side the park had a nice trail around the lake to walk and it was really quiet.

Wifi/Cable: None

Hook-ups: Water and electric, 30 amp, however the electrical box looked super old and sketchy and the water was near the front of the site. Our hoses were barely long enough.

Dogs: Lots of places to walk. There is a fenced in dog park but it requires a yearly membership to access which seemed odd for a state park.

Location: We were just on the outside of Columbia. It was a pretty easy drive into downtown. This was really a stopover for us so we didn’t explore too much.

Ease of Access: Don’t trust google maps. It took us through neighborhoods to get there which wasn’t necessary. The entrance to the park is nice and paved but the campground seems to be forgotten by the maintenance crew. The campground roads are narrow, dirt, and full of potholes and washouts. We also hit several unavoidable branches. There was at least one spot where there was less than a foot of space on either side of the rig as we snaked through the trees.

Ease of Reservation: Reservations were made online, however the sites vary greatly and the descriptions don’t seem to be very accurate. When we put in our rig length we were given very few options. Once at the park it appears there would be way better options that we were not given.

We always camp with my wife's side of the family over Thanksgiving. We normally choose parks in North Carolina or South Carolina and try to stay in different parks each year. This year we stayed here and overall had a good experience. My wife and 2 kids always arrive on Saturday to have a few days to ourselves. When we arrived on Saturday the park was around 3/4's full and even with the park that full it was still pretty quite. When we setup our camper, we did find that the sites are very uneven and you will need several blocks to even the camper out. Around Sunday afternoon the weekend campers left and we found ourselves with the park almost empty. As Thanksgiving approached the park did fill back up and it appears that it is a popular location for the people of Columbia.

The park is very wooded and even though the sites are close together, the wooded feel makes the sites seem farther away. The bathhouse was kept clean and stocked with the essential paper products that are needed. The men's shower got hot and had good pressure, my wife as informed me that the women's is the exact opposite. The shower portion did not give you a decent feeling of privacy though...

There is plenty to do in and outside the park. Inside the park you have trails, fishing, boating, and being lazy if that is what you want. With the park being in Columbia the shopping is easy and the options are endless for entertainment.

We are staying one night here because we are just passing through the area. Nice, friendly, helpful staff. Very woodsy. We are in campsite #10 in the first loop and it is pretty level side to side, but had to raise the front of our trailer. The office said our site is 40’, but I had no problem backing in and fitting our 52’ of truck and trailer into the site without unhooking. Sand/dirt sites. Playground, splash park, small store at the office. A lake with kayak, etc., rentals. Quiet. The office said the first loop tends to have more level sites than the other loop. They could do a bit better job of cleaning up the sites. Ours has a couple of cig butts on the ground, a beer bottle and some trash in the fire pit. Since we always try to leave a campsite better than we found it I will pick this stuff up in the morning before we leave. We like this place.

We were on our way from Charleston to Greenville and this was a great place to stop. We used it as a home base for visiting Congaree National Park and couldn't be happier with our choice! We were in Site 32 and it was a great one. We had a view off the back of our site and it felt private. There was a splash pad, a lake and many trails to explore. I also enjoyed reading the different signs around the park about the history. I was shocked to find that as many as 10,000 people would visit this park on weekends in the 50's and 60's. The staff was really helpful and the facilities were all clean. We would definitely go back to this campground!

The campground is off a really busy road, but you sure wouldn't know it! It was very quiet. However - super convenient having any place you might need to go right by. Our Verizon hotspot worked great, but the Sprint hotspot was spotty through the park. If you are ever passing through or want a good home base for exploring Congaree - this is it!

30A / Water at sites. Dump station on the way out.

Nicely wooded camping areas, some sites are a bit close - and not all are level. Sites are sand / dirt mixes. If it's not the busy season, I highly suggest choosing a site that suits you once you have arrived. Loop 2 is a little janky to drive through if you're a big rig (we're 40'), but it's doable.

Really nice trails for walking/running, lake for fishing/swimming/non-motor boating, splashpad and playgrounds.

Bathrooms are heated in the off-season, but water in showers remains only 'warm'. It's usable, but if you prefer a good scalding clean - this is not the place you'll get one.

We suspect there is a military test area nearby - or SOMETHING. Very large explosions that shook our rig with each volley went off for about an hour on the Sunday morning we were at the park. We've been places with gun ranges - this was not a gun range type situation. It was fine though - just surprising and took us a minute or several to figure out what the heck was going on.

Park is off a trafficked road with a plethora of stores and restaurants - but as previously mentioned, you are deep enough into the woods where you don't notice this at all when you're in the campground/park.
