In many ways, Dallas does remind me of Austin. They both share a great love for beautiful urban parks and great weekend escapes for the families.
One of the top 20 attractions of Dallas is certainly White Rock Lake Park which stretches for a huge 1,015 acres. A nice size lake for sailing, rowing, with many fishing spots and fishing events. It is an ideal place for jogging with some trails exceeding 9 miles in length and for bicycling.
The park is one of the top favorite pole of attractions for locals which may turn into a negative thing, since during a warm sunny day it may get well over crowded with people of all kinds. From people running and doing bicycle, families with young children, couples, but even kind a few 'weird' people.
Even though is a relatively safe place to have a walk, you should be careful because some attacks happened in the last years, therefore you should not get far away from people for your safety. Better be safe than sorry.
