Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on September 30, 2022This is a lovely state park in upstate New York featuring spacious sites (electric only), lovely parkland, and reasonably convenient access to Niagara Falls. The spaces here are very large and there are many trees that help provide a sense of privacy. There are two separate camping loops. B loop appears newer than A loop (the trees are much younger), but both loops are nice. The sites are all large enough that you won't feel like you're staring at your neighbor. As for utilities, all they offer at the sites is an electrical connection, but there are water spigots throughout the park and a convenient dump station at the entrance to the camping loops.
Darien Lakes is just south of I-90, so very convenient if you're traveling across upstate New York. The park is located about 25 minutes from a major commercial district (Batavia, NY) where you can get everything you need. In the opposite direction, about 15 minutes from the park, is the small town of Alden which offers a grocery store and other necessities. We did not go to Niagara Falls, but it's only about an hour from the park, so certainly doable if you're interested.
Staff at the front desk were consistently very friendly. The one ding I would note is their cancellation and fee policies are pretty tough. There are a lot of fees, costs can be high, and $35 per night for electric only was out of line from most of the other state parks we've stayed at.
Overall, we loved our stay at this campground. It's a bit pricey for a state park, but the entire park is immaculate, offering several walking trails, a large lake (swimming available in the summer), playgrounds for the kids, and large fields for sports. The campground was lovely with big spacious sites, lots of foliage, and easily accessible roads for big rigs. While the park was busy over the weekend, our fellow campers were quiet and friendly. During the week, we basically had the place to ourselves. All in all, we loved our stay and would absolutely come back if we found ourselves in the area.

This is a nice, quite state park about 30 minutes from Buffalo and an hour from niagra falls. The darien Lake amusement park is 3 miles from the state park. We’re towing a 42 ft 5th wheel and it was a bit of a chore to get it in to our back in site, but there plenty of sites that will accommodate big rigs. We got the last site available so we didn’t have much choice. There is 50AMP service but no weather or electric. We would stay her again.

We were there on a Sunday night in September and it was nearly empty. Sites are generally pretty far apart so I dont think crowding would be a problem. Friendly hosts. The place was spotless. Bathrooms were good. Went to a concert at Darien Amphitheater and were able to catch an Uber to the event.

Huge park, neatly kept. Some sites are very sloped depending on where you are. We stayed in spot #30 (moved from #28 at the last minute because we couldn’t get leveled) which is massive ... a huge field all to yourself! Great for kids, swimming, play structures, fishing. 30 amp power on site, water & dump in the park. I’d stay here again but I do think it’s way overpriced.

Our site was large and flat with shade. We had a weboost and went from 3 bars to 5 on Verizon. Many sites are not level so 4 stars. Thursday night was pretty empty but really filled up on Friday night. Easy to book online. We were there to visit Niagara Falls so perfect for us. It was an easy scenic 50 min away. Parked at Devils Hole and biked to falls ans back. Nice way to see the falls

We stayed here for 3 nights to visit Niagra Falls. This park is huge and we ended up having to change our spot from 19 (too narrow from too many trees) and shade. We chose a large sunny lot and loved it. We had electric, and water was close by. About an hour to Niagra Falls. Close to town for groceries or spirits. Fire pit with lots of firewood to purchase - bundles for $4 and you get a lot. Really enjoyed our stay here.

We were there from 6/24 - 6/25 2022. Very large park with several loops. We were in the large loop and thankfully had a large tree for shade. Most of the sites near us were on the interior of the loop with no shade. There is not much separation between sites. The park is very close to a large amusement park and there were many families. There is a smaller loop with more shaded sites. The bathrooms were deplorable and filthy, only cleaned once a day and needed to be done more often as the park was full. The park has a nice small lake with beach and picnic areas. Small town of Alden close by with grocery stores and restaurants.

9/25-9/29/22 - The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site #15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least (probably more) playground.
