“1,600 acres & over 80 historic structure”
Wide open spaces, the hard-working cowboy, his spirited cow pony, and vast herds of cattle are among the strongest symbols of the American West. Once the headquarters of a 10 million acre cattle empire, Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site is a working cattle ranch that preserves these symbols and commemorates the role of cattlemen in American history. Encompassing 1,600 acres, over 80 historic structures, many historic artifacts, and walking trails, there is something for everybody at the ranch.
My kids had a fabulous time here. We loved all of the interactive learning experiences.
We got there too late for a tour, but we had a lovely walk through the grounds and enjoyed reading about the history of this family. They had clean bathrooms and friendly animals to interact with. My girls all enjoyed themselves and it was a nice break from the drive.
The ranch was great and far more than we expected. The rangers and guides were all great and we learned a lot about the ranch and overall life in the late 1800’s. Worth a stop for an hour and the views are great as well.
We stopped here for just an hour to stretch our legs, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Unfortunately, you need to be there by 3:15 to have a house tour (winter hours), but my 18 month old and grandparents enjoyed cowboy dress up, artifacts, cow watching, and a very friendly horse nuzzled me!
Great place to visit and incredible artifacts of this fascinating family. The place had flooded on the walkways while there but everyone hospitable. There was plenty to see of a large working cattle ranch.
