“wildlife wonderland!”

This southwest Georgia park is on beautiful Lake Seminole, a 37,500 acre reservoir with excellent boating, fishing and birding. Cottages, many campsites and even picnic shelters sit near the water’s edge, offering excellent views and quick access to the lake. Because the park surrounds a small cove, visitors usually enjoy smooth water for skiing and tubing. A sand swimming beach is also provided for lake lovers. Wildlife is abundant throughout Seminole, and a nature trail leads past gopher tortoise burrows and one of the largest longleaf pine forests in a Georgia state park. Observant visitors may also see alligators, osprey, bald eagles and other wildlife. Nearby wildlife management areas provide great duck and deer hunting.

This park is a wonderfully tranquil place to stay. There are about 60 spacious, gravel campsites. The majority are pull through, and many are right on the lake. The CG and the facilities are kept very clean. There is one washer and dryer on site. There is a boat ramp, playground, beach, and a 2 mile trail. The closest town is Bainbridge with Walmart, Home Depot and Winn Dixie, although there are smaller stores closer to the park. One of our favorites.

Let me start by saying that the park is still suffering from the damage caused by Hurricane Michael in 2018 so half of the camping sites are closed along with many of the trails.
However, the staff has done an amazing job getting the park back in order. The cabins are all open as well as beautiful RV sites on the lake. We went over Veteran’s Day weekend so couldn’t get a spot on the water but #47 was still nice and did have a lake view. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful at check in and the camp host was also very welcoming.
We have. 28 foot Airstream and even with a pull through site we had to be careful of the pines trees. Our site was fairly level but we saw quite a few that were not so come prepared with blocks.
The only negative was a noisy group next to us who treated the entire park to a country rock concert two nights in a row. We were told that if the camp manager were there (he was out sick) that he would have out a stop to it.
Park is only an hour south of Kolomoki Mounds State Park which is definitely worth a day trip. Overall a peaceful park with beautiful scenery, even with the hurricane damage.

Beautifully maintained park with a lot of open space. The campground is small with good space between sites. Mostly pull thru sites fairly level. Good host. Nice trails and a big day use area. I am impressed with Georgia State Parks and give them a big thumbs up. Good Piggly Wiggly in town. We didn’t stay long but will likely come back when we are in the area.

We stayed for 7 days in January. The rate was reasonable and the weather was not too bad. If you want a quiet place with great internet service, this may be it. The only downside is lack of sewer connections. The dump station is centrally located so that is a plus. All spaces seemed large. We will stay again. As with all Georgia State Parks that we have stayed in, this is another great one.

We really like this park. There is still quite a bit of damage from the hurricane, so most of the trails are closed and one of the back campground loops is still closed (i.e. needs a complete remodel/new utilities before reopening). The bath house is newer, nice, and kept clean. There is a washer/dryer at the bath house. Our site was a pull through, gravel, mostly level site. The only negative (to us) is the patio area faces the road which is not ideal for us from a privacy perspective. The lake is beautiful. Saw lots of birds (including an osprey snatch a fish from the water) and some fox squirrels, but not much other wildlife. We moved to site 6 (on the lake) and site 6 was outstanding! Nearby Bainbridge is good for some restaurants/grocery trips.

We moved to this site, from site 20 (see previous review). The sites that face the lake (like this one) are awesome! Pretty private and gorgeous views over the water.

We stayed here in site number 9. It is right on the “lake”, actually more like a large pond connected to the lake, but very pretty and not too much boat traffic. We really enjoyed this spot. It is a little tight for a pull through and you don’t have a ton of room to let your steps out, but you do have a short walkway to a nice gravel area with fire ring and picnic table, and you are literally 15’ from the water.

I have stayed in three state parks in Georgia and I have been impressed with all of them, including Seminole state park.

The campground is right on the lake and there is a nature trail that winds through wiregrass. The sites are spread out although there isn’t much privacy between the sites. Had to do a little leveling but not too bad. Bathhouse was nice and clean and there was laundry.

The lake is very beautiful and peaceful. Saw some of the most amazing sunsets here. I stayed right by the water and there were a ton of gnats. They didn’t seem to be so bad farther up the hill away from the water. Got about 2 bars on Verizon.

Stock up on groceries before you come. The park is a bit in the middle of nowhere. Donalsonville is 20 minutes and Bainbridge is 25 minutes. There’s lots of good fishing if that’s your thing. Also Big Jim’s was a really yummy restaurant about 10 minutes from the park.
