Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on September 18, 2019There are only 8 sites in this campground — 7 and 8 are right next to each other and the best ones. 6 is also decent. The others are woefully unlevel or oddly placed. $28/night feels steep — make sure you procure a campsite you like before depositing the fee in the post up front.
It’s very very quiet.
There is a special magic to this place — saw some amazing lightning and unusual red flashes of light, and had a great encounter with some fellow travelers. Worth a visit.

We stayed here on April 2nd, and there was no snow. We had a 24ft pull behind camper which was easy to turn around in all parts of the campground. We ended up camping at the last loop with great views of the sunset. The Carter County museum is a must see as well.

On a ridge in the midst of the prairie, the Medicine Rocks are large eroded outcrops of sandstone. Unfortunately modern vandals have defaced every surface they can reach with initials and other carvings.
The campsites here have simply been placed in small areas between the rocks. No attempt has been made to prepare the sites but for the addition of a table and metal fire pits so the sites are not level. Vault toilets are scattered along the access road.
Montana residents camp free but non residents are charged an $8 access fee plus a $20 comping fee.
This park has a great setting. Camping here has the same feel as boondocking but with a fee.

We camped at Medicine Rocks State Park during mid-June amongst the unique rock formations found at this extraordinary place. The campground road was well maintained as was the entire campground. We chose site #7, nestled within the large rocks and pine trees near the last loop. Each camp site has a fire ring and table, and there are several vault toilets throughout the campground. Water is located only at the entrance to the campground, and there are no trash receptacles. This campground is first come - first serve, the cost per night is $28.00, however we have a non-resident Montana State Parks Pass and received a $10 per night discount. We had one-bar of Verizon service without a booster. There are trails located at this campground with great views of the beautiful surrounding landscape and stunning pillars of limestone formations. We enjoyed the peacefulness of this campground and would definitely return again.

8 campsites that are not particularly level, but mostly private tucked within the beautiful rock formations. Three short hiking trails with a lot of opportunity to explore around the rocks and to take in the view of the surrounding ranchlands. Water at entrance is GOOD! We had no cell service with T-Mobile.
