Ken and Kitch Ayre, co-owners of Kathryn’s Bistro and Martini Bar, started with a vision. The Maryland natives relocated to Ken & Kitch AyreEmerald Isle in 1995 in search of warmer weather, but it didn’t take them long to realize something was missing—a fine dining restaurant. Although Ken and Kitch did not have any previous experience in the restaurant business, they realized their dream could become a reality with just a few simple elements: first-class service, delectable cuisine and an elegant atmosphere. In 2004, they put their heads together and came up with a plan. Ken insisted that Kathryn’s offer the finest offerings of local seafood and the best steaks in the area. Kitch was certain that a martini bar was exactly what Emerald Isle needed. Ken and Kitch’s youngest son, Ryan, was fresh out of college and came on board as the General Manager to help pull all of the elements together.
