Where east meets country and western, Izakaya Meiji offers reasonably priced authentic Japanese cuisine, like one would find at bar in Meiji Era Japan. We have a wide selection of whiskey, sake and pre-prohibition style cocktails, as well as local beers on tap. "Izakaya" - Japanese Tavern. Began as a "sake house" and sake purveyor, a place where locals could socialize casually, enjoying simple appetizers and drinks. "Meiji" - Era in Japanese history during reign of Emperor Meiji (1868-1912), a time of great cultural and economic exchange between Japan and the Western world. "Company" - One's companions or associates; A guest or guests. A state of friendly companionship; fellowship. A business enterprise.
