“Fish on a quiet pond”
Nestled away in the forests of 3,500-acre Bomoseen State Park sits the quiet camping area comprising Half Moon Pond State Park. Set in the dense woods of a small, sheltered basin, the park surrounds Half Moon Pond. The campground offers camping for all tastes with its waterfront campsites and lean-tos and five furnished cabins. For those seeking more creature comforts, Tall Timbers Cottage, with its waterfront location and private boat dock, offers all the amenities of home. A perfect place for campers seeking a respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life, the park offers a vast trail system including a short walk or, for the more ambitious, a full-day’s hike. Hikers are likely to see a variety of wildlife including white-tailed deer or an occasional moose. Rowboats, kayaks, canoes and pedal boats are available for rent from the park office, and two small, sandy beaches provide locations for sunbathing and swimming. The pond also has excellent fishing, where anglers can catch panfish, yellow perch and largemouth bass. Other exceptional fishing opportunities can be found at nearby Glen Lake and Lake Bomoseen. With sites both on the water's edge and back in the woods, the 52 tent sites, 5 cabins and 11 lean-to sites provide great camping opportunities in a quiet, peaceful environment. Flush toilets, hot showers ($), and a dump station are provided. There are a play area and hiking trails to High Pond and to Bomoseen State Park. This is a camping only park and there are no day use opportunities. There is limited swimming, but great fishing and boating (no motors) in the pond (boat rentals available), as well as in other lakes and ponds nearby.

Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on October 05, 2018Nicely spaced sites, in a mostly pine forest. Clean shower buildings (pay showers). Need to watch the single lane suspension bridge just before you enter the campground. Load limit is 8 ton. Nice bike trail from the campground on a old railroad grade leading up to a dam. Cell service very spotty. Nice hike behind the campground to a overlook overlooking the valley.

Half Moon Pond was beautiful, tranquil, and perfect for a calming get away. I brought my boyfriend for his 40th birthday and it was ideal. The cabin was clean and really good sized with a table, bunk beds, a futon, electric, a big beautiful deck out back overlooking the pond, a picnic table, a fire ring and trees nearby to string our hammocks. The bathrooms and showers were close and kept up nicely. We were able to hike the available trails, get firewood from the main office and drive to Fort Ticonderoga for the day. I loved it and will most definitely will be back, only for longer next time :)

We camped here in early October 2017 at a waterfront site. It was spacious and lovely. The campground was very clean, as were the restrooms. It was very quiet and there were plenty of sites free at that time of year, although the waterfront sites were booked for the holiday (Columbus Day) weekend. The sites are large enough for small to medium sized rigs. We didn't see anything larger than small trailers and popups so there may be no sites large enough and there are no hookups. I went for a swim in the clear water and and we walked the trails in the surrounding woods and around the pond. It is a lovely place, a few hills but no nearby mountain vistas, remote from cities or towns. The pond is very small, not really a kayaking attraction except for kids or if you just like to float in a boat and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Part of the road into the park is unpaved; one of us arrived by motorcycle and he said that it was a bit difficult to traverse but he would go there again. Check in was fine and the ranger was very nice. Book early if you want a waterfront site.
