It's an excellent zoo in that you see a very large variety of animals, but 100% of the terrain is easily covered in two hours. It was VERY HOT while we were there, but the tree coverage is good in most places, and there's nearly always an air conditioned shop or restaurant that you can sit and rest in if you need to. Highly recommend.

Fort Worth Zoo ranks among the top 5 zoos in the USA and is definitely worth the visit if you are going to stay in Dallas or nearby places.

Even though till recently i was 100% opposed to zoos, during the last couple of years i ve change my mind, simply because i've realized that there was also a turn in the policies of some major zoos worldwide.

First of all it is worth mentioning that the Management of Fort Worth Zoo collects money in order to save endangered species across the world, and all the animals that they have within their premises are being treated with the best possible way. The professionalism of the staff there is absolutely top class and their love for what they are doing is evident on almost every part of the Zoo.

The entrance fee is kind of reasonable ($12) and you are allowed to carry your own food if you like which you can enjoy in many spots within the premises. What really impressed me is the fact that there are many spots offering shade during the hot summer days and there are lots of random misters to cool you down.

There are also many events taking place there during the year, therefore you should check out their website to be informed about their schedule. Great place for kids who can be educated about wildlife and i bet they will be thrilled about the zoo's world famous reptile collection, as my boys did!

Finally, i would advise you to bring your own bottle of water with you, since water is over-prized there; if i remember well its about $3/bottle.

World class zoo no question about it. I won't rant (since they have everything you can imagine and more) but I will drop a pro tip that even in the winter this place is awesome. They have a light show and it's famous!
