Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on May 26, 2021This is the most densely forested campground we've stayed in yet. This meant quite a bit of privacy between most sites, but also meant it was challenging driving our 37' motorhome through the campground. The road weaves back and forth the entire way (not straight) with trees and branches very close to the road. We managed it but I can't picture trying it in a much bigger rig. Our camping area was very large, with a picnic table and fire ring. There's a trash can and recycle can at every site which was nice. Our site was mostly hard packed sand (not gravel), so we were constantly tracking it into the rig. We needed 75' of hose to reach the water spigot at our site, but still it was nice having water available, as many county/state parks don't have it at sites. It was a very short drive to Six Flags (our reason for visiting) which was convenient. Being a county park there were lots of trails (and a lake) for walking our dog. The campground was practically deserted during the week but was completely full during the weekend with local campers. There was quite a bit of noise and campfire smoke when the campground was full, but it didn't bother us. Verizon and AT&T both worked great. It rained a lot one day, and some sites looked a bit flooded, but ours was fine. The price seems a little high for a county park, but everything in this area is expensive, so this is on par or even a little cheaper. We'd return here in the future.

Turkey Swamp Park campground is a very pretty and deeply wooded campground with VERY LARGE and VERY PRIVATE sites. It has two nice playgrounds for the kids, canoe rentals, fishing, and an archery range--but that's about it. It is a great place for a quiet relaxing weekend and is something of a locals campground but with a very friendly vibe. It is about a 25-30 minute drive to Monmouth County beaches such as Belmar. This is about as close as you can get to the Jersey Shore in an RV. The other reviewer is right--it is pretty tight for a big rig-- but people do camp there in class As and fivers.

We stayed here one night in May. We picked up our trailer at the dealership in south jersey and due to the torrential rain, decided to stop half way on our trip to north jersey. This was a great find and we can't wait to go back. The staff was great, both over the phone and in person. The campground was clean. The only complaint that I have is that the water spigot was about 50 feet away. I didn't have a spare hose with me, so I wound up filling the water tank on the trailer. This is a beautiful campground and we can't wait to come back.

Very wooded site, we have a 36 foot travel trailer had a little problem getting into the site. There are other site that would be easier to pull our trailer into. Site was very clean, garbage and recycling containers at site. We did not do any of the water activities. But we did take a short walk in the trails. We would definitely return.

Loved: the park rangers and programming (Campfire Critters Saturday night and wagon rides every evening), cleanliness, hot water in the free showers, the option to use the trails, ~25-30 mins drive to the beach, Swingline mini golf nearby.
Didn't love: horseflies (super heavy on the wooded trails; not bad around camp); distance to the bath house from our campsite in E6.

All the sites at this county park are pull thru. Each has 30 amp service and water. Note the water spigots are between the sites so be sure to bring enough hose. Sites are level sand and fairly large. You may have someone across from you but probably not next to you. Pretty good distance between sites. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Also included is a lantern pole with hook.
I was able to find a couple trees to hang a hammock. All sites are tree covered. I was able to get 50 % solar. In mid September it was very quiet. Of the 65 or so sites only 8 had Rvs and 2 had tents.
There is one centrally located bath house which was clean. Three free showers with push button timers. Plenty of hot water. Several playgrounds for the kids with rubber crash mats covering the ground.
Office opens at noon. Most site can be reserved. 12 sites are first come first served.
This campground is less than one hour from Philadelphia and not far from 6 Flags or the Jersey shore. It's open April thru October.
Several miles of hiking trail surround the lake. Lake has paddle boat and kayak rentals in season. Also on the property is a archery range.
I will stay here again.

Turkey Swamp Campground is located in Turkey Swamp Park which is park of the Monmouth County Park System. The sites and bathhouse were well-maintained by friendly, helpful Rangers. All sites are wooded pull-throughs and would fit even some of the larger units, several Class A's were there during our stay. I liked that the rangers frequently rode through in various vehicles making sure all was well. Our site was quite large, with fire ring and picnic table. We could have put a tent up as well if someone were coming to stay with us. The parking area was quite level with water and electric, had one drawback, the water hookup is at the far end so be sure to bring extra hose! Side note: pine flies can be fierce early summer.
Within the campground there is dump station, bathhouses, playground and laundry. All again well maintained. The park has many trails for hiking, other playgrounds, picnic areas, pavilions, nature talks and activities as well as a large lake. Fishing is allowed but a NJ Fishing License is required. Paddle Boats, Canoes and Kayaks are available to rent. There is even an Archery Range.

This place is great during the week or the off-season. The sites are huge and well spaced-out. The showers were old and moldy (but hey, I just take off my glasses and forget about it, the water was warm!). The only complaint was that their old 30 amp system didn't work well for our bus, but we made it work.
Also know that your campsite fees gives you a parking pass to the beautiful Seven President Oceanfront Beach (a 35 minutes drive). Just ask the ranger station. There is an amazing French bakery (Antoinette Boulangerie) about 35 minutes away too. We're French and those Almond croissants and raspberry chocolate mousse (and éclairs) were AMAZING!
Also make sure to enter Turkey Swamp family campground in your GPS since there are a few different entrances to this park.
