“one of the best preserved Civil War battlefields”
On March 7 & 8, 1862, 26,000 soldiers fought here to decide the fate of Missouri. The 4,300-acre park honors those who fought for their way of life. Pea Ridge was one of the most pivotal Civil War battles, and is the most intact Civil War battlefield in the country. The park is acknowledged as one of the best preserved Civil War battlefields. The park features a visitors center and museum, a driving tour, the restored battlefields, hiking trails, a portion of the pre-war Old Telegraph/Wire Road, approximately
this is a great stop if you like to bike or hike, if you just passing through you can drive the loop around the park and stop at the overlooks and read about the battles that were fought. you are GUARANTEED to see lots of deer!
Nice civil war park. If you are short on time I would make a beeline for the overlook.
Excellent place to visit. The information center has great information and a 30 minute film that gave a great overview. Then the drive to the various points finished it off wonderfully. The ranger at the information center was friendly and knowledge. I really enjoyed talking to him. At the Tavern House (which had apparently just reopened after renovations) the gentleman there provided great information and was also super friendly. Great visit and I am glad we visited!
One of my favorite battlefields and a must see for any Civil War buff.
Lots of great history. This is also a beautiful place to hike. Plan to spend a few hours here.
