“The history of crossing over”

There are a lot of really screwed-up places to visit in America, and Hollywood's Museum of Death is right up there. As I'm sure you've probably already figured out, the entire museum is dedicated to the all things associated with kicking the bucket… and business is good. If you don't like blood and guts, metal, taxidermy, dead stuff, jars of dead stuff, pictures of dead stuff, and just a whole lot of dead stuff in general you're probably not going to want to visit… understandably. However if you're curiosity has been piqued your $15 dollar admission will get you a tour of the building and probably a few nightmares in the process. The Museum of Death also has a section dedicated to the funeral business, with loads of embalming tools, coffins, eye caps, tubes, and of course a training video of a body being embalmed. A section dedicated to celebrity deaths, cults, torte, ritualistic suicide, famous crime scenes, real mood enhancers if you catch my drift. James Healy and Cathee Shultz, owners of the Museum of Death, are always happy to give their guests tours, which includes a look at the more sinister collections, oh yeah, and introduction to their two-headed turtle. The museum is definitely not a stop for everyone, but if you can handle the gory, shocking, grotesque, and scandalous, than the Museum of Death will definitely educate and entertain. Or just give you nightmare fuel for weeks to come. -Roadtrippers The World Famous Museum of Death was founded in June, 1995, originally located in San Diego's 1st mortuary in a building once owned by Wyatt Earp. Evolving from the controversial art gallery the Rita Dean, founders JD Healy and Cathee Shultz realized the void in the death education in this country and decided to make death their life's work.Reopened in Hollywood, California, the Museum of Death houses the world's largest collection of serial murderer artwork, photos of the Charles Manson crime scenes, the guillotined severed head of the Blue Beard of Paris (Henri Landru), original crime scene and morgue photos from the grisly Black Dahlia murder, a body bag and coffin collection, replicas of full size execution devices, mortician and autopsy instruments, pet death taxidermy, and so much more! Also on display are videos of autopsies and serial killers, the Heaven's Gate Cult recruiting video, and the infamous Traces (not Faces) of Death video, all real (not re-enacted) death footage. The Museum of Death is a self guided tour, lasting approximately 45 minutes to an hour, but those who can stomach it stay as long as they like. The movies run for hours.

This place was great for someone that really likes to take their time and enjoy a self guided tour. $15 is not a bad price at all, and they have free parking! It really is a must see and very interesting stuff inside! Staff was nice, just a block from hollywood walk of fame
