Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on September 02, 2022Best WiFi we have experienced at a park, important because of very poor cell coverage. Sites are very basic, with gravel and sparse grass, and mature trees. Amenities are nice, such as cable, a small cafe, fairly nice dog park. There is no grocery close by, so shop before coming here. The store here offers basic needs but in general is overpriced. One small gas station about three miles away, and a couple of small local interesting looking bars (decided to pass on them).
We stayed at this campground twice. We love it here. Very close to Badlands NP, and we get 4 bars on Verizon cell service. Sites are level and shaded.
Very nice KOA. The sights were well shaded and roomier than others we have stayed at. Staff were so nice. They have a well stocked store and great wi-fi.
Great place. Large dog park, nice shade trees. You can see some of the badlands from here.
It is in the middle of Badlands!! Stars!!!! White River hiking! loved my 5 days here. My family and dogs had a blast.
They were doing a lot of construction, and there had been a lot of rain before we got there, but for us it was pretty miserable. It was muddy and dirty and the pool was freezing and unappealing. After staying at a far superior Yogi Bear Campground, this really paled in comparison.
Camp grounds are conveniently large but Wireless Internet is DSL service broadcast over WiFi. Very slow connection. The grounds themselves are very nice and the facilities such as showers are nice although they can be nicer.
So many Mosquitos! Quiet campground, no cell reception here, but free wifi.
The campground itself is quite nice but has a few drawbacks worth mentioning. On the good side, it's large, with a mix of full hookup sites, partial hookup, cabins, and tent sites. It's just a few miles from the entrance to Badlands National Park. Most of the sites have plenty of shade trees which are a huge benefit considering how hot it gets here. One big plus for us was the large fenced-in dog area, one of the largest we've seen, which also has a dog washing station. Being a large campground we found plenty of grassy places to walk our dogs. There's a swimming pool which looked like it got a lot of use (we didn't use it), and other amenities like pancake breakfasts, evening BBQs, etc. On the bad side, we thought our full hookup pull-through site was a little small for a $50/night rate in rural South Dakota. The sites in our area were so short that many visitors' tow vehicles were sticking out into the very narrow lanes between the sites--when it was time for us to leave we couldn't get out and had to drive through the empty site across from us to get to the next lane. The other big downside for us was there was no usable Verizon or AT&T signal. With our booster we got a very weak signal but data (3G only) was still extremely slow. The campground WiFi worked occasionally but was usually unusably slow in the evening. There are other campgrounds closer to Badlands (less expensive and with cell signal) but the big thing the KOA has going for it is mature shade trees and amenities like the pool and dog park.

We weren’t to enthused with the camping sites in Badlands Park, they were shadeless and very close to each other. We tried the very close by KOA and we are SO glad we did!
We tent camped towards the back under the cottonwoods. The river was not too far away and the overall ambiance was better than expected.
We had sporadic cell service, but could connect most of the time. The showers were much welcomed and were clean but a bit dated.
Staff were welcoming and attentive. Tent site was debris free except for a few tent pegs. Score!
